RENOVATION

Taking a little tour

Restoring our Rustic Farmhouse

Looking back is always interesting when you renovate… the first days at our rustic farmhouse in the mountains of Piedmont were completely naive. We bought the house by torchlight on a sunny day in June. I didn’t even go inside I just knew I wanted to live here and nowhere else seemed possible. It was love at first sight.

The house was just above the village of Gambasca, and had a view in both directions through the Valley. With a big terrace that caught the sun, and so much potential we just couldn’t resist and soon after it was ours.

So this is Salvatore taking a walk around the grounds and into the house, (we filmed constantly to send home to our parents). Apparently my mother in law cried when my Mum told her about the dirt floors.

For us it was all a big romantic adventure, a chance for the children to experience the “real” Italy.

And boy did we experience it!

Gosh Lisa that is incredible. David and I are sitting here watching your movie and we are amazed. That is one gorgeous home. Do you have a video of when it is finished? Love your spirit.

      Hi Lisa and David,
Funny how we don’ recognize what we do as incredible (like your dream journey). As soon as we saw the house we were in love and no other home would do. We have lots of images and video (we both trained as photograpers).
Now our children are taking up the camera as well and teaching us a few things, I love the freshness of their vision. I can’t think of a greater gift to give your children than the gift of travel…. ciao bella Lisa

I am enjoying your Vlog, and know what you mean about always carrying a camera. Love your passion, ciao for now Lisa

Hey Carla I think we did everything the experts say not to do when we bought the house in Gambasca. No reports, no plans, just fell in love with it all and bought it. No wonder your hubbie is killing himself (with laughter I presume?). Can’t wait to see what you have bought, been watching your Aussie trip as well and the shots are fantastic. ciao for now
