MOVING TO ITALY
Addictive Blog Award & leaving for Italy
A wonderful thing happened last week, we were nominated for an Addictive Blog Award.
I have known Francesca Muir for some time and we just click. It was like meeting up with a sister when we got together in Sydney at a workshop run by Carla Coulson. She just nominated Renovating Italy for it’s first Addictive Blog Award.
I also met the gorgeous Millie Brown at the same workshop.
I was standing in front of her in the line getting a coffee and we got chatting, it wasn’t until I was back in Brisbane that I realized who she was, and that I had been following her blog for ages.
It’s now my turn to nominate ten of my favorite blogs for an Addictive Blog Award and it’s so hard to choose just ten.
We leave Queensland in five days heading for Melbourne, Bangkok then on to Italia. The last few weeks have been flat out, so much happening and I can let you know that moving country can be a bit stressful.
Even though I am a fairly calm person this move has had us all unsettled. We now have less than a week before setting off on the first stage of our journey back to Italy. The big goodbyes to come are unavoidable and I am not looking forward to that last hug with my Mum.
I nominate these bloggers for an Addictive Blog Award.
Carla Coulson
The woman who started it all for me, the incredible Carla Coulson
Like so many people who dream about doing it, at the end of bad week in Sydney almost 15 years ago, I actually did it. I left my life to go find the right one for me.
I jumped on a plane to Italy, this led me to photography which I studied in Florence Italy.
For the past 15 years I have lived in Paris and Italy with Mr. Right, worked with Australian and International magazines including Harpers Bazaar, Vogue Entertaining and Travel, Gourmet Traveler, Inside Out, Australian House and Garden, Collezioni and many more.
Carla is one of the reasons I started blogging and I was lucky to win a Portrait Session in Paris with her. She is just an incredible woman and talented photographer x
Di Mackey
Di Mackey is the one who tells me in no uncertain terms to get blogging again (when I lapse) as I’m one of only three others that she loves to read. High praise from her, whenever we get together we’re double trouble…. love ya Di!! x
“Who am I kidding when it comes to defining the subject of this website … ?
I’m in love with an ancient Italian city called Genova. I was introduced to it back in 2008 and it was love at first sight, a passion that has only deepened over years. In the summer of 2016, I moved here.
This website, my photography, my writing … it’s all Genova & me. It’s a city I become more passionate about every day. It gifts me peace when I’m sad, laughter unexpectedly, and so much joy. So yes, as the photographs show … I’m in love with this ancient Italian city.”
Rambling Tart
I just adore Rambling Tart, written by Krista and just a total joy.
“I love old books, classic movies, singing along with Bing Crosby, and going treasure hunting in thrift stores. I can’t get enough of camping, hiking, and sitting by the ocean. And I’m never happier than when curled up in a comfy chair, coffee in hand, chatting away with a dear friend”.
~ A true soul sister x
Bleeding Espresso
Michelle Fabio is an American attorney-turned-freelance writer living in her family’s ancestral village in Calabria, Italy and savoring simplicity one sip at a time.
~ Her blog Bleeding Espresso was my initial inspiration for Renovating Italy, a generous soul and wonderful writer and I’m happy to nominate her for the Addictive Blog Award. x
Destination Umbria
Australian by birth, Sicilian by heritage, I fell head over heels in love with Italy as a student in Perugia more than 20 years ago.
For now, home is Melbourne, where I work as a freelance interior designer.
Destination Umbria is for lovers and dreamers and people who know that your real home isn’t always the place you were born. ~ to a truly beautiful soul with love x
Francesca Muir
For every hour you spend at a place, you leave a little bit of yourself at that place. You also take a little bit of it away with you.
This is what I have taken from my life’s little sojourns over at That Greek Blue.
~ I love Francesca’s outlook on life and attention to those little things in life. x
Mozzarella Mamma
Trisha Thomas is a journalist working for Associated Press Television News in Rome since 1994. She is married to an Italian and is a mother of three Niccolo’, Caterina and Chiara.
Read on, get a laugh, sign up to Mozzarella Mamma, enjoy it.
~ Insightful and caring, a beautiful woman x
Baroque Sicily
Jann Huizenga writes at Baroque Sicily, she is a photographer and writer who lives part-time in Sicily.
The island cast such a spell on her that in 2007 she bought a damp house with an old green door in Ragusa Ibla—a stony village where public clocks as well as people are way behind schedule.
~ Jann brings Sicily to life x
One of the many wonderful things I have found through blogging is incredible friendships with so many people I may never get to meet in person. I adore sharing with you all and hearing about your dreams.
Blogging has been a great gift, one I both love and battle with. It’s been a big learning curve and I can’t wait to see where it leads me next….I hope you’ll come along and continue to share your dreams x
Please note all images in this post are copyright of the artists and are not to be shared without the permission of the artist.
So that’s it for my First Addictive Blog Award

Sending you lots of love to you and your gorgeous family xxx
Well today is the day we finally head for the internatnational airport rather than the domestic!! I can’t wait for that moment on the plane when I have nothing left to do and can just relax for a few hours. We plan to have a good rest in Bangkok and will keep you up to date on it all. Luca said you need the ‘magic school bus’ so you can come and see us. Sending love and happy travels xx
Add me to the list of the amazed others that you were able to do this while the clock is ticking–it says much of your generous spirit. There is so many blogs that are new to me here–I can’t wait to go explore them!
Am sending my Best to you during this challenging time–wonderful but challenging–and I will cheer you on once you hit Italian soil!
Heather
Thanks so much for that Heather, everything seems to be happening in fast forward and all those things I wanted to do have gone undone. I know you’ll love these bloggers they just some of my favorites. Italy is not far now and I can’t wait to see her again x
So glad to hear you are really in the “home stretch” now. Good luck!
Also, Lisa, did you post something about the Paleo diet? There is a post on your blog from one PierreKHood. There is no reference whatsoever to anything to do with Renovating Italy in that post. I don’t know how it could happen so does it NOT belong here? There are so many weird things that can happen with the internet, I think.
If you did post it, forgive me for asking.
Oh no sorry Caterina it was a spammer who got into my site and the problem is all fixed now. I just don’t understand the reasoning behind these people and the trouble they cause. thanks for letting me know as sometimes these things slip past, sending love lisa x
I share Krista’s amazement that you somehow found the time to nominate these wonderful blogs. Thank you for including BaroqueSicily. It’s an honor!!! Grazie mille! Buon viaggio, Lisa, and KEEP CALM!
