INSPIRATION
Saint Joseph & the Rain Clouds
There’s only one rain cloud in the entire sky and it’s raining on me…
Eeyore
I am and always will be an optimist….but for the past few weeks that rain cloud has been sitting firmly over our house.
I could recount the multiple woes of selling a house in a market that is flat, of watching our dreams fading fast whilst our minds spin round and round looking for a way out.
but I won’t…
When life gives you lemons… make limoncello!
I have no doubt that we will get there by the skin of our teeth! We always seem to come up against seemingly impossible obstacles only to work them out at the last possible moment.
Once I give up the idea of how things are meant to be and just get present to how they actually are right now in this moment options start opening up.
Everything hinges on the house selling within the next few weeks. If not a major Plan B will be in order.
I might just have to rely on my photo of Saint Joseph sent to me by Enrico and Cathy from Solebello.
Hearing of our dilemma they so kindly sent me a photograph of their statue of Saint Joseph. I just love that he has traveled in such an unusual way to make it to our home.
There are various stories telling me that if we want to sell our house we have to bury a statue of Saint Joseph in the garden with a seeming indignity of being buried upside down.
Apparently it only works if you point his feet at the front door of the house you are trying to sell. Oh and you have to pray…. so I think I will stick with my photo and hope that the original statue which is currently in America will somehow send us a buyer so we can follow our dreams and get to Italia.
Perhaps you will be kind enough to cross your fingers for us…
and the gang x
Hello Lisa,
We sold our house out at D’aguilar last year with using the Law of Attraction and the principles of the movie -The Secret.
We had a photo of our house printed out and wrote SOLD across it in red texta, then we put that photo in a book with other images of what we wanted our life to be like after we moved on.
Fingers and toes are crossed that your house sells asap so that you can move on, and start your life in Italy. Thinking of you and your family.
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Funny how things work out. Sam and I took the Landmark Forum some years ago and I take those principles into all areas of my life. I totally agree that we can create unexpected results. I love the idea of the photo of Saint Joseph sent by our friends as it is so Italian and he has journeyed so far to be with us. When we first planned to move to Italy the first time we were listening to a lot of Anthony Robbins and had photos all over our office of the places we’d love to visit. A SOLD sign would be wonderful!
thanks for all your support
ciao for now

Hello Lisa,
My fingers and toes are crossed for you! We sold our house last year out at D’aguilar by using the principles from the movie “The Secret”. We had a image of our house, taken and printed from our computer. And then we wrote “Sold” across the paper in RED texta. Then we put that into a scrap book with images of what we wanted to do once the house was sold.
It worked – and we sold it for a record breaking price! So here is to your house selling asap and you can move to Italy and start afresh with more renos.
Cheers
LIsa
Sorry things are still on a temporary hold!
Thanks Caterina, we now have multiple agents on the job and creating in my mind that it will sell this week. Planning everything from this and gearing up for the big move back to Italy. Our house has to be constantly ready for inspections. Yesterday an agent came and didn’t realise we were actually living in the house, he nearly fell off his chair when I told him we not only were living here but with two children under 10. How are things with you??
ciao for now

Ciao Lisa, I was in a town called Monfalcone, right on the Adriatic. Not terribly picturesque but my nonni lived there. I did first year of elementary school (my parents moved back to Italy for a few years) then I went on my own primarily to learn the language (rather than dialett mixed with English) and completed la terza media ( last year junior high). I miss Italy so much 🙁
I love the top terazza and the view from your new house, it is breathtaking. We were in 5Terre in October last year and I wanted to rent a room right in Manarola and stay there for a month and just “be”. my husband (who is half Maltese but learning Italian so perhaps we can live there one day) also loved your house and blog, said to me “do you think you could go through renovating a house?!” He is not such a handy man as your Salvatore appears to be.
Nice to meet you too and I look forward to reading about your adventures.

Dear Lisa,
I am from Melbourne and happened on your blog via Facebook and wow, I read every post you have written. I LOVE what you are doing, terribly brave but exciting. I loved your little house in Piemonte (though it looked freezing) and I wish you all the best with the house in Liguria. I do hope your Brisbane renovation sells very very soon and you can start your journey.
I am of Italian heritage (I have family in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto), have spent a few years at school near Gorizia. My husband and I talk of living in Italy in the next few years, who knows how, when and which part, it is all beautiful though I am more familiar with the North. Chissa come, quando e dove succedera’. Your renovation is quite inspirational, I look forward to showing it to my husband (I hope he is as enchanted as I am by it!).
Thanks for your postings, I look forward to hearing about your next step

Hi Paola,
Great to meet you, thanks so much for your kind comments. We are also originally from Melbourne, last living in Warburton. We moved to Qld nine years ago (and had two in Italy) and just waiting for a buyer for our house now. It’s hard to be patient when we want to head off so badly. The house in Piemonte wasn’t as cold as it looks, although we had minus 20 and a meter of snow we were about the cloud level so got all the sunshine. Sam would often drive down to the village just with a t-shirt to find them all rugged up.
I looked up Gorizia, were you at Primary or high school then? Is your husband Italian? Sorry lots of questions, as you say the entire country is just beautiful. My husbands family is from the South. The house we have bought in Veravo will be a wonderful challenge, I can’t wait to get there and actually see it for myself. Say hi to your husband, and hope he wont laugh at our next venture it’s a big job.
thanks again for your best wishes I value them so much
ciao for now

Stressful times but you will get through them. Take Care.
What’s life without a bit of stress, we should be used to this by now having done so many. Just means we have to start thinking outside the box! Thanks LindyLou for your kind wishes they mean a lot!
