My family was from Salina and moved to Boston and Perth around the early 1900s (I think). I think Salina only had a population of around 5k then so likely everyone knew each other in some aspect or another. Our family name is Re. My great grandfather's brother opened a grocery story in Perth called "The Re Store" which appears to still be open today. My great grandfather settled in Boston, MA where my family still lives. I hope to one day visit Salina and locate some other Re's but have been finding it tough online.

Hi Lisa – I came across your blog during a genealogy search. Our heads are a major source of heat loss! Re cold feet-mine are large blocks of ice. A small tens unit ( dr Ho’s)can really help with circulation. A warming ointment also helps with circulation. There are also “spa socks” with inserts you heat in the microwave. Heavenly!

Lisa, cold weather comments from Canada:
-Add booster cables to your car emergency kit
-during the winter, consider your gas tank as empty at the 1/2 way mark
-add some granola bars or chocolate
-hand warmers (the ones you activate) are wonderful
-always follow municipal rules for tire chains
-thin foil like camping blankets will trap body heat and don’t take up space
-have a container to melt snow if needed for drinking.
-extra hats! Moreover, I suggest you to check the italian magazines in a period included from the end of last century and the first years of 2000 and you will find the tragedy happened in this area around all the villa. Some big landslides are happened in all around the house and on the highway gallery below. Many people dies. As a miracle, the villa was not touch for about a couple of meters... This is why the area is now considered dangerous. Please look to North Italian Magazines, pubblished in Lecco city area.

In reply to Marco Marchese.

Moreover, I suggest you to check the italian magazines in a period included from the end of last century and the first years of 2000 and you will find the tragedy happened in this area around all the villa. Dear Tiffany, dear all, I am italian from Milan and I was like you interested to buy this house and restore it. The actual owners are some shareholders of a small factory that produces mechanical parts near the town Cortenova. In the last 12 years the villa was put in auction 3 times, but no one has made any bid at all. No one wants to buy it because it is forbidden from the Italian Government to restore it. This because the entire area is under hydro geological medium - high risk level of landslide. Also simply touch the walls is forbidden. The authorities of the area refuse the authorizations to the owners for any kind of intervention, as some metallic mezzanines, in order to support and save what it is still standing up. So no chance to save it. It seems a paradox but this is the real actual situation till the area will not pass to good hydrological conditions (and this will never happens). Hope to have clarified the situation, Marco.

In reply to Tiffeny Glidewell.

Dear Tiffany, dear all, I am italian from Milan and I was like you interested to buy this house and restore it.
