Kindness

kindness

Arriving in a new country  can be a shock, although we planned and my husband spoke fluent Italian things were still difficult to start with.

When we bought our house in Piedmont Italy, we had no idea that it came with an instant set of Grandparents for our children. They adopted us with a passion, and gently guided us through the intricacies of life in Italy.

Even though my Italian was limited I always felt the love. This kindness meant that our children got plenty of bear hugs, presents on special occasions, and constant kisses and love from Piera and Claudio.

I honestly don’t know what we would have done without them to watch over us.

Our neighbor Claudio has been there when our Van broke down on the mountain, when I was taken to hospital he rushed to be with me, for early morning shots of sambucca with us, for celebrating, laughing and sharing a pizza with pineapple on top!

So this post is dedicated to kindness of the Italian people who always made us feel welcome…. and even shared garden tools with very small boys.

Who was it that made a difference in your life and how? I’d love you to share….

and the gang x

How amazing that there is so much love to give to others…wish they did that in Australia 🙂 Love the way Italians embrace each other and care for each others 🙂

So nice to hear that Kindness surrounds you and your family, and how much of a difference it made to your family xxx

    Cheers

Lisa I think Aussies are more independent and if you want help you need to ask for it. Otherwise they assume you are okay. Claudio and Piera took us under their wing, our surrogate Mum and Dad. Lots of cheek pinching and hair ruffling for Carina and Luca.
      ciao lisa xx

You were very lucky to have such welcoming people to ease your transition to Italy. It obvious they mean a lot to you. The kindness of strangers can really make a holiday! Ps- Thanks for the mention.

We have always been lucky with our neighbors and remain friends with most of them. We also had another couple down the road who adopted my husband and taught him to make bread. I can’t work out by your email Sarah which mention you mean, could you let me know and then I can put a face to the blog. I am linking up to some of the other blogs doing the 30 days of Indie, there are so many great ones. ciao for now Lisa
